Top of Mind: Use Content to Unleash Your Influence and Engage With Those Who Matter to You
Q: What’s your best piece of advice for readers looking to improve their marketing?
Focus on how you are building trust with audiences and engaging them. Marketing is evolving, and you have to focus on building a real relationship with your customer.
Do everything you can to remove trust barriers. From investing in your own brand to being a trusted resource for content, you have to earn a buyer’s trust.
Q: What was the inspiration for Top of Mind?
It’s that life has changed a lot in the last three to five years. The happiest and most successful people I meet consistently work to engage the relationships that matter most around them. It was super inspirational for me to see that, and once I started making an effort to do it more, it made a huge different in my life.
Q: What is the key concept behind the book?
It’s vital to be top of mind with the people that matter most, whether it’s a partner, friend, sale, investor, or anybody else who’s important to you. If you are on their mind at the right time, in the right moments, opportunities come to you. However, you have to engage people consistently in the right way to make this happen. This book is about helping you do that 🙂
Q: What do you want readers to take away from Top of Mind?
Honestly, if they can just walk away feeling like they enjoyed the book and that in some way it will make them slightly better, that’s a win for me. I’m not going to act as though books immediately change your life, but if I can just spark some thinking about how you engage people, I’m happy.
Q: How do you describe yourself professionally?
Keynote speaker and author who leads an amazing team at Influence & Co. that helps people build trust and credibility online by creating and distributing engaging content.
Q: What books or writers inspired your work/career?
- Essentialism by Gregg McKeown – Makes you focus on what’s important
- Giftology by John Ruhlin – Helped me become more thoughtful with people
Q: What is the biggest challenge that you’ve had to overcome?
Challenges are just opportunities to learn 🙂
Q: What’s something unusual or fun that most people don’t know about you?
I can sing and rap the Cabbage Patch Kids song because my sister made me sing it to her friends consistently as a kid. Yeah … I had that type of sister 🙂
Q: Is there a piece of marketing content that you’re particularly proud of?
It’s exciting to work on brands of companies that are doing great things and have good people. Companies like Hawke Media, led by Erik Huberman, or Acceleration Partners, with Bob Glazer.
These are people who were newer in the industry years ago and are now some of the most known names speaking to the largest audiences in their industry. It’s great to see how our service has been a catalyst to help them stand out. It’s great when smart, hard-working people are given a chance to be thought leaders in their industry, and they truly help educate others.
Q: Is there anything else that we haven’t covered that you’d like to share?
Just check out the book and tell me what you think. I love speaking, so if you ever see a good fit for me to speak at your/a friend’s event, let me know. I could be considered a marketing speaker, sales speaker, leadership speaker, or even HR. If you catch me at an event, don’t be shy. Come up and say hi.
