Heidi – I have no problem with the idea of hiring a ghostwriter, heck, I have even sold ghostwriting in the past.

If you are going to take the expense of hiring a professional to help with your content marketing, though, please invest the time and money to find a decent writer. A decent web writer can help you identify several “low-hanging” search phrases to target, and he (or she) will then explain how he is going to gain targeted traffic using those terms.

    Nice list post…. :)

Jeremy–I totally agree that if you’re paying for freelance writing it should be strong, blog-friendly and in-line with your voice. Happy marketing, Heidi Cohen

In selecting a ghostwriter, it is important to pick a writer who knows about as much about your subject area as do the people in your market. If you’re a lawyer, for example, and your market is small-business owners, having a lawyer or articling student as a ghostwriter runs the risk that the text will be full of legalese that the readers won’t understand, and you’ll come across as intimidating. But if you’re writing for other lawyers — such as in-house legal counsel — then using legal terminology is more appropriate. A good ghost should challenge you when you use a word or phrase that she or he thinks the readers won’t understand.

    Hi Heidi,

You’re right. Writing a blog is giving away your best shot. If you need a professional help to improve your content marketing, then do it. If that’s the only way in order to give away your best material, then it would be very good. Also there is one important thing we need to consider when writing a blog; your blog must have the element of ‘sociability’. Blogging is not all about writing. Blogs should be used in order to build strong and lasting relationships with your readers/would-be-customers. Give them what they need, when they want it. It is also advisable to take efforts in replying to their comments, if they do leave comments in your site, and visit their site as well to leave your own comments. That’s sociability (at least for me)

Your tips are very powerful and engaging. I am definitely going to put them into practice. Thanks,

    Nadine
